Qigong is breathing and energy strengthening exercise. The Pal Dan Gum "The Eight Silken Movements" have been used for thousands of years in China and Korea, to improve the posture and general health and to increase bodymind awareness. They stretch and help to move the Qi along all energy channels of the body. Pre-registration is required for this class. If no one registers the class will not run that day.
Research has shown that Qigong:
-Alters the neuro-chemistry profile moderating pain, depression and addictive cravings, as well as optimizing immune capability.
-Improves resistance to disease and infection and increases the efficiency of cell metabolism and tissue regeneration.
-Enhances the efficiency of the immune system through increased rate and flow of the lymphatic fluid.
-Initiates the relaxation response, decreasing heart rate and blood pressure.
-Coordinates right/left brain hemisphere dominance promoting deep sleep, mental clarity, and reduced anxiety.
-Induces alpha and theta brain waves that reduce heart rate and blood pressure, thus facilitating relaxation and mental focus.
